As a follow-up to the first part of this article, we will be discussing further other benefits of redemption that make up our inheritance as members of God’s family. This inheritance is only available to the redeemed who have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God’s dear Son – Jesus. Below are some benefits of our divine inheritance as conferred by redemption.

The Exceeding Greatness of His Power: And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power – Ephesians 1:19

The exceeding greatness of God’s power is the immeasurable provision of strength we have in Christ. This great dimension of power is towards us who believe in Him. This implies that the prerequisite to accessing this immeasurable dimension of the power of God is faith in Him. This power is to enable us to stand and confront life’s many battles. It is the key to living as ‘more than Conquerors’ both in this life and that which is to come.

The prerequisite to accessing this immeasurable dimension of the power of God is faith in Him. This power is to enable us to stand and confront life’s many battles.

This power far exceeds any man-made weapon the world has ever known, even Satan bows at the demonstration of this power. It is the source of our boast (against the devil), and the basis upon which we fight to maintain our victory. There has never been anything like it, nor will there be any close to it.

This power is received via the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Embracing Him is walking into this unfathomable dimension of power as Jesus said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”  (Acts 1:8). As we determine to walk in the Spirit, may this exceeding greatness of God’s power find expression in our lives.

The Riches of His Glory: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints – Ephesians 1:18

Part of the inheritance promised us by God is, ‘The riches of His glory’. This phrase is commonly used throughout the epistles of Paul to portray the immensity of heaven’s riches. Every divine supply or provision (spiritual and physical) we enjoy is not based on our income or abilities but on the riches of His glory. If we truly understand the mystery of these glorious riches in Christ, we will cease struggling for this world’s goods. Having this understanding, Paul prayed for the Philippian Christians to receive divine supply “… according to His (God’s) riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Every divine supply or provision (spiritual and physical) we enjoy is not based on our income or abilities but on the riches of His glory.

Labouring to only get rich by this world’s standard is poverty in disguise because true riches are measured by the measure of our richness in God. Beyond anything else, God’s earnest desire is to bless us according to the riches of His glory. His will is to display His glory in and through us, making us His true representatives to the world. This is revealed in another of Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians, “That He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man” (Ephesians 3:16).This Scripture implies that spiritual strength is part of the package of these riches as well as everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). May you not labour for earthly riches at the expense of His riches in glory in Jesus’ Name!

The Hope of Eternity: “Because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of truth of the gospel” – Colossians 1:5

According to Rick Warren, “We are on earth to prepare for eternity.” This understanding helps us to live life with caution and enables us to live with eternity in view. For the believer in Christ Jesus, the future is neither bleak nor uncertain; we have a clear idea of what the future holds for us as promised by God’s word. The writer of Hebrews calls this hope “…an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God” (Hebrews 6:19, MSG).

For the believer in Christ Jesus, the future is neither bleak nor uncertain; we have a clear idea of what the future holds for us as promised by God’s word.

We are assured that “Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us” (Romans 5:5).It is by this hope that we are able to endure the trials and temptations of this world, and we will eventually overcome by staying anchored on it.

Are the difficulties of life making you to lose your stand?  Remember, there is hope laid up for you in heaven. God has not left us in the dark as to what He has prepared for those who love Him. This was confirmed by Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:9:

“But, on the contrary, as the Scriptures says, what eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].”

May you stay anchored unto this hope until the end, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

We are to live each day with utmost gratitude to God for this incredible, eternal provision He has made for us.

Having considered these benefits of our divine inheritance made available to us by redemption, be informed that these benefits are not exhaustive based on this article. For this reason, we are to live each day with utmost gratitude to God for this incredible, eternal provision He has made for us. But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9
