A network, according to the Longman dictionary of contemporary English can be defined as a group of people that are connected or that work together. While it defines networking as the practice of meeting other people involved in the same kind of work, to share information and support each other.
Three points are important in Networking as shown in the above definition,
1) The people must be involved in the same kind of work
2) They share information
3) They support each other
The first point is in line with Amos 3:3 which asks this important question
Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?
We may not be involved in the same kind of secular work but our divine assignments are similar. We all have an assignment from God that we are expected to run with here on earth. Ephesians 2:10 says For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
Secondly, the bible encourages us to share information with one another that can help each of us maximize our destiny in God. Proverbs 27:17 states that As iron
sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Also, Proverbs 24:6 says For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Proverbs 20:18 also states that Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war. And Proverbs 27:9 says The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.
And the third point under the definition of Networking above is that They support each other. Isaiah 41:6-7 says They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.
The Power of Networking cannot be overemphasized, when we come together, walk together and work together we become a formidable team. If one falls another pulls him up when one is discouraged His brother says to him “be of good courage”.
So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
The Power of Networking cannot be overemphasized, when we come together, walk together and work together we become a formidable team. If one falls another pulls him up when one is discouraged His brother says to him “be of good courage”. That is why the bible says in Leviticus 26:8 Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword.
A network affords us an opportunity to draw strength from our brother or sister in the area we are weak. When your faith cannot carry the vision God is showing to you..the simple testimony of your brother may be all you’ll need for faith to spring up in you..all Mary, the mother of Jesus needed to believe the vision that the Angel Gabriel revealed to her was a simple testimony about her cousin Elizabeth who had been declared barren but was now pregnant with a child (Luke 1:36-37).
I pray that God would help us to form a closely knit network that would become an awesome army in God’s hands.
It’s nice to have you sitting beside me on this flight into destiny.
